Getting There

Asilomar Conference Center is located at 800 Asilomar Avenue, Pacific Grove, CA 93950.

All conference sessions take place on the Asilomar grounds. If you are lodging at Asilomar you will check in at the front desk in the Phoebe Hearst Social Hall.

Air Travel to Asilomar & Airport Transportation Options

Monterey Regional Airport (MRY)

Monterey Regional Airport located 9.3 miles from Asilomar Conference Grounds. There is limited to no taxi service at the Monterey Airport, but rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft provide convenient transportation from this airport to Asilomar Conference Center.

San Francisco (SFO) and San Jose (SJC) Airports

Asilomar is approximately 120 miles from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and 65 miles from San Jose International Airport (SJC). From these airports to Asilomar you may choose to rent a car or take the Monterey Airbus shuttle.  From SFO to Asilomar the fee is $65 one-way and from SJC the fee is $55 one-way.  Save $5 per trip if you book online at www.montereyairbus.com. If you are getting to Asilomar Conference Center on a Friday afternoon please note that the driving traffic from either of these two airports can be extremely busy – for this reason we suggest checking for availability of flights to the nearby Monterey Regional Airport instead (see above).

Driving to Asilomar

If driving to Asilomar from San Francisco or San Jose, make your way to California Highway 1 and go south. After you pass the Monterey exits, take the second Pacific Grove exit (Route 68 West). Travel west on Route 68 for approximately 10 minutes (watch for where Route 68 West turns left). Near the bottom of the hill, turn right on Asilomar Blvd. The main entrance to Asilomar is at the intersection of Asilomar Blvd and Sinex.

There is free parking on the campus (avoid the red curbs, this means ‘no parking’.)

The Weather & What to Bring

The facility is a campus so you will be walking outdoors and you will want to dress appropriately to stay warm. Temperatures are anticipated to be in the high 50 degrees Farenheit and lows in the low 40 degrees Farenheit.

Coastal fog is typical for this part of the coast and it can further intensify the cold feeling. We suggest bringing layers of clothes, such as fleece jackets, vests etc, and if you have space in your suitcase pack a hat and gloves too, just in case.

We also suggest bringing a pair of comfortable walking shoes for walking on the beach and exploring surroundings during the breaks or in the evenings.

Accommodation

Asilomar Conference Grounds accommodation offers basic guest rooms spread throughout 30 buildings and an outdoor swimming pool. No telephones, TVs or microwaves are included in the guest rooms. Some buildings feature common living rooms with fireplaces and sitting areas.
